World top fifty golfer and former Irish Open Champion Shane Lowry will be the guest of honour at this year’s Gallagher Group Kent Ballinamore Golf Classic.

The Offaly man, a son of legendary Offaly footballer Brendan Lowry, will attend the prestigious Ballinamore Golf Club event on Saturday as a guest of sponsors The Gallagher Group next Saturday.

Shane burst onto the international stage when, as an amateur, he won the Irish Open in 2009. Since turning professional Shane has gone on to compete on both the European and US tours, winning the Portugal Masters in 2012.

Young golfers will also be in for a special treat next Saturday as Lowry, who finished ten over par in last weekend’s Irish Open at Royal County Down, will host a session with any Junior players, giving them the opportunity to ask him some questions and learn what it takes to become a top touring professional.

The event will prove a real treat for golfing fans and should ensure a big crowd in Ballinamore.
