Sean McGowan retains his Drumkeerin Open Darts title

The annual Maureen Owens & Gerard McKenna memorial darts tournament took place last Sunday in Drumkeerin. It was another successful tournament with up on 70 players in total taking part.

The annual Maureen Owens & Gerard McKenna memorial darts tournament took place last Sunday in Drumkeerin. It was another successful tournament with up on 70 players in total taking part.

Results as follows: In the Open, Sean McGowan (Sligo) held on to his title by beating Campbell Jackson (Derry) 6-4, McGowan collecting the first prize of €600 plus Perpetual Cup & Trophy; Jackson collected €260 plus trophy for his efforts

Beaten Semi Finalists were Paul Boyle (Sligo) & John Brennan (Longford), with both of them collecting €120 each plus trophy; Beaten Quarter Finalists were Brian Kelly (Leitrim), Andrew Gillespie (Donegal), Thomas Nevin & Gearoid Brennan (both Longford) who all received €50 plus trophy. The above part of the Tournament was sponsored by Drumkeerin Community Family Festival.

In the Youths section, Ronan McDonagh (Roscommon) retained his title with a 3-0 victory over Owen Murray, McDonagh receiving €100 & trophy with Murray receiving €50 & trophy. Beaten semi finalists were brothers Francie & Thomas Davitt (Leitrim) who received €25 each plus trophy. The above part of the Tournament was sponsored by The Cosy Corner Darts team, Drumkeerin.

The Ladies section was won by Tess McMorrow (Leitrim) who received €70 plus Perpetual Cup & trophy, in the final she defeated Emma Smith (Leitrim) who receiced €30 plus trophy. The above part of the Tournament was sponsored by McManus Door & Window Repairs, Drumkeerin. A report on sponsors etc will appear in next week’s edition.
