The Underage races which were meant to be held along with the Ballinamore 10K & 5K Road races as part of Ballinamore Festival on Wednesday August 15, but were deferred due to uncertainty about the weather that evening will now be held in St Felim’s College Grounds on Sunday next, September 9, at 6.30 pm.
Entries will be taken at the venue from 6.00 pm. The events to be held are-
Under 6: 60m; Under 8: (born 2005 or later) 300m, Under 10 (born 2003 or 2004) 500m, Under 12 (born 2001 or 2002) 600m, Under 14 (born 1999 or 2000) 900m, Under 16 (born 1997 or 1998) 1200m, Over 16 1500m
There will be medals for the first three in each event plus additional medals for other placings to include beginners in the Under 12 event upwards. The races will be of particular value to those hoping to compete in the Leitrim Primary Schools Cross Country Championships at the end of this month as well as those who will compete in the upcoming Inter Club Cross Country events.
CONNACHT FIXTURES ANNOUNCED
The Connacht Council AAI held their fixture meeting in Claremorris on Monday night last. The following fixtures for the remainder of 2012 were announced:
Saturday October 13: Primary Schools Cross Country & Walks plus Novice & Masters, Calry, Co Sligo
Sunday November 4: Even Ages plus Junior and Senior, Ballina 1.00
Sunday November 11: Uneven Ages plus Intermediate, Galway venue 1.00
Monday November 19: Connacht AAI AGM, Claremorris
Sunday November 25: All Ireland Inter Counties & Even Ages - no venue yet
Sunday December 9: All Ireland Uneven Ages and Novie, no venue yet
It is likely that the Leitrim Primary Schools Cross Country will be held midweek during the last week of September or the first week of October with the Inter Club Cross Country on Saturday October 20, but these will be confirmed by a forthcoming meeting.
