The Connacht Senior Schools Championships which is an annual event and open to all secondary school children took place in Leisureland in Galway last December.

Aiden Healy, Clodagh Boland, Sorcha McGwynne and Emma Ryan represented our club in this competition. It was a great sporting occasion and our swimmers did their club very proud. Aiden, Clodagh and Sorcha all took part in the 50m Butterfly, recording excellent times. Sorcha also did a great swim in the 50m back crawl competition. Emma Ryan competed in the 400m freestyle, 200m Individual Medley, 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle events. Emma again recorded excellent times in what was a very busy weekend for her.

We would also like to thank the parents who helped transport the children and to Fiona, our swim coach who was there as always to encourage and support the competitiors. The Swim Club were proud to nominate Aiden Healy and Sorcha McGwynne as their swimmers of the year 2012. Sorcha and Aiden have been members of the Swim Club since it began in 2009 and both members have shown continual dedication and commitment to their sport.

Carrick Fins will be hosting the Connacht Regional Graded Gala in Aura, Carrick-on-Shannon on February 3, at 8am.
