Carrick Golf Club are preparing for their own Ryder Cup exploits in early Septmeber after the club’s Cecil Ewing team reached the Connacht Final in dramatic circumstances.

Carrick Golf Club are preparing for their own Ryder Cup exploits in early Septmeber after the club’s Cecil Ewing team reached the Connacht Final in dramatic circumstances.

Having lost one of their two matches at home and trailing in all three away matches, the team of Declan Loftus, Collie Griffin, Eamon McGirl, Joe Bruen, Tom Daly and Denis Flynn staged an improbable comeback to snatch victory over Tuam in Tuam.

Loftus & Griffin recoverd from two down with two to play to tie while Bruen & McGirl went from one down with four to go to win the match. Carrick-on-Shannon now face a home and away final against Roscommon on September 1, & 8 in a very eagerly awaited final.
