Recent deaths in the Leitrim area

The following deaths have occurred:


Mark Rooney - Lower Road, Glencar, Co Leitrim

Mark Rooney, Lower Rd, Glencar, Co Leitrim, who passed away peacefully, at Sligo University Hospital on Saturday, September 17. Remains reposing at his home today, Tuesday, September 20 from 3pm to 9pm with removal on Wednesday to St Osnat's Church, Glencar, to arrive for 12 noon funeral Mass with cremeation afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. House strictly private on Wednesday morning. Crematorium private to family only.


Sheila Gibson - Ballyshannon, Co Donegal

Sheila Gibson, nee McMurray, Coolcholly, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal at Sligo University Hospital. Reposing at her late residence today, Tuesday  September 20 until 10pm going to St. Anne’s Parish Church on Wednesday for 2pm funeral service with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to St. Anne’s Parish Church or Sligo Coronary Care, c/o any family member.

Desmond (Des) Lang - Collooney, Co Sligo

Desmond (Des) Lang, Union House, Collooney, Sligo peacefully at his residence. Des will repose in the Churchview Funeral Home, Collooney on Wednesday evening, September 21 from 6pm with removal at 8pm to the Church Of The Assumption, Collooney. Funeral mass on Thursday at 12 noon with funeral proceeding afterwards to St Nathy's cemetery, Collooney. House is private please. Family flowers only, donations in lieu to the North West Hospice.

Philomena Keown - Garrison, Co Fermanagh

Philomena Keown (nee Flanagan) London and formerly Garrison, Co. Fermanagh. Removal from the Sheil Hospital Mortuary, Ballyshannon on Thursday evening via Garrison at 6pm to St John The Baptist Church, Toura for 7pm. Requiem Mass at 11am Friday followed by interment in adjoining cemetery. 

Desmond Rushe - Elphin, Co Roscommon

Desmond Rushe, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 and formerly of Elphin, Co. Roscommon and late Irish Independent - September 19th 2016 peacefully)at St. Francis Hospice Raheny. Reposing in Lanigan’s Funeral Home, 21 Beaumont Road on Thursday evening from 4pm to 6 pm. Removal on Friday morning to Corpus Christi Church, Homefarm Road arriving at 11.20am. Funeral after 11.30am Mass to Glasnevin Crematorium. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to St. Francis Hospice Raheny.
