What was the first dance song at your wedding?
What style of dress? What Flowers? What venue? What marriage service? What first dance?... There are so many decisions to be made as you plan your wedding day and some of decisions are bigger than others. But often it’s the ‘little’ decisions like – what song to play for your first dance? - that causes weeks of debate, deliberation and STRESS!!!
For some couples it is an easy decision as they have a song that is ‘their song’ because it brings them back to their first date, or a gig or movie they went to together, or simply because it was a popular at some stage throughout their relationship (or wedding planning!) and they just like it. For other’s it’s the lyrics or how easy they can dance to it. But let’s face it… not every couple has a ‘song’ and if they do it may not be suitable for their ‘first dance’ and then there’s the added pressure of wanting something ‘different’….
Our couples frequently ask for ‘First Dance’ suggestions and so we decided to so some research on their behalf to find the Top 10 First Dance Songs. We asked our Castle Dargan Estate facebook followers, we reached out to the WeddingsOnLine.ie Help I’m Getting Married facebook group and spoke with wedding bands – Late Nite Radio Band and The Brian McDermott Band to see what songs made the list….
The results were interesting with a mixture of up tempo and slower numbers also modern and some romantic classics. With just 10 songs… there’s definitely some inspiration for you as you make that BIG DECISION!!!!
