BREAKING: People of Leitrim elect new county council as 15-hour official count concludes

The official declaration of the newly elected 18 councillors for Leitrim County Council came at close to 5am this Sunday morning.

As dawn broke, it was announced that for the next five years, the following will serve their communities in the Chamber;

Ballinamore LEA

1. Paddy O'Rourke
2. Enda McGloin
3. Brendan Barry
4. Ita Reynolds-Flynn
5. Roisin Kenny

Carrick-on-Shannon LEA

1. Enda Stenson
2. Des Guckian
3. Maeve Reynolds
4. Sean McGowan
5. Cormac Flynn
6. Paddy Farrell

Manorhamilton LEA

1. James Gilmartin
2. Mary Bohan
3. Felim Gurn
4. Padraig Fallon
5. Justin Warnock
6. Eddie Mitchell

It is said that the group will informally meet in the Chamber in July, before formal council sitting will commence in September.

The official count began at approximately 2.30pm this Saturday afternoon, but unofficial tallies had ran since 8:30am this Saturday morning.
