Body recovered from Shannon

The body of a 21-year-old Kurdish man has been recovered from the Shannon River at Carrick-on-Shannon.

The body of a 21-year-old Kurdish man has been recovered from the Shannon River at Carrick-on-Shannon.

Carrick-on-Shannon Gardai and sub aqua teams began a search for the young man this morning. It is understood he got into trouble with a current and disappeared near Inver Gael, Cortober while swimming with friends yesterday afternoon, March 28.

His body was recovered at 1.30pm this afternoon (Thursday, March 29).

His name has not been formally released.
