The Summer sunshine is here, so it is time to peel off those winter layers and show some skin. But for some the thoughts of this process is sheer hell.
The Summer months really reveal the amount of weight we have been hiding under those Winter layers – some have been hiding the weight for years.
Maybe you have tried every diet regime going, attended the gym for months all to no effect. Don’t give up on losing weight and living healthy - all you need is the right motivation.
The all new local Get Fit Challenge is offering someone with dedication and confidence the chance to win a free personal trainer for six months who guarantees to shift that fat and get you looking fabulous – this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Siofra O’Connor and Dave Hanley run fitness classes in Carrick-on-Shannon, Drumshanbo, Annaduff, Leitrim Village, Boornacoola, Elphin, Rooskey and Dangan.
The pair of fitness instructors are seeking a male or female from the area who has been struggling with weight problems for years but who has made the commitment to get fit this year.
The idea is similar to RTE’s Operation Transformation or the hit series The Biggest Loser.
The selected contestant will benefit from six whole months of personal training, nutrition advise, access to all fitness classes and round the clock motivation.
If you ever wanted celebrity treatment this is it! The selected person will keep a diary which will be published on Facebook and in The Leitrim Observer over the six months of his/her journey. The journal will detail the highs and lows and place the winner as a Leader for everyone else to learn from their experience, get some tips, follow the progress and hopefully encourage more people to get fit and lose the pounds.
After six months, the candidate will get a transformation make over and will be revealed to the public in his/ her new fit shape in a huge event in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Trainer Siofra told the Leitrim Observer that they were moved to create the ‘Get Fit Challenge’ after being inspired by the so many dedicated people who attend their classes and see the results. The experienced instructors want to help those who feel like they have no more options and show them what can be done in just six months.
“I think now even more than ever diet and exercise need to play a bigger part in everyone’s lives - we are bombarded daily with false advertising on products that we do not need to be consuming or which may not be healthy for us, but with such busy lives a quick fix is always the option,” Siofra said.
Everyone who applies for the Get Fit Challenge will be assessed in a free fitness class locally, they will then be interviewed to get background information and a panel of six will be selected. These six will take part in a fitness test and the winner will be chosen.
The winner must have a strong support system behind them, must be physically, mentally and emotionally prepared for the journey they will take and they must be committed completely for the six months.
This is a unique opportunity to turn your life around in six months with a free personal trainer who will keep you on your toes and motivate you. To be able to complete this journey candidates will need to be flexible with training and available to attend personal training three times a week, plus fitness classes. The winner will also receive a starter pack with equipment and resources.
