Fianna Fail councillor, Sean McGowan, has welcomed moves by the Local Authority to review traffic volumes on the Mohill to Drumlish road.

Speaking at the recent Council meeting, Cllr Sean McGowan, said that the road should be upgraded from a local road to a regional road.

“This is a particularly busy local road - with the magnificent Lough Rynn Hotel complex situated just off this road it has led to a very significant increase in the volume of traffic using the road.

“This road was classed as a regional road in the past and was downgraded to a local road in the early to mid eighties,” he said.

The Director of Service, Infrastructure, John McGuinness, noted the road “is generally in good condition having benefited from significant Road Improvement works over recent years. The traffic volumes on this road will be reviewed and if the traffic volumes warrant it a case can be made for to upgrade the road to Regional Road status.”
