Clare McLoughlin from Drumshanbo and Annmarie McNiff from Keadue who have volunteered with Outreach Moldova an Irish Charity are currently asking peoples help in donating a shoebox (Christmas present) for the children in the orphanage.
Outreach Moldova runs two orphanages in Moldova. In the baby orphanage in Chisinau there are approximately 100 children aged from a few weeks to seven years. The orphanage in Hincesti currently has over 300 abandoned or orphaned, children/young adults with disability and children with chronic illness. These girls and young women ages from four years to 20 plus.
Anyone who would like to contribute a box for a child in the orphanages is asked to wrap a shoebox(please wrap box and lid), pick a child from the above age groups and fill with some small presents such as those listed below for the child. Also please enclose €4 for the transportation of the box to Moldova. The boxes must be ready for November 11th. Some recommended items could be:
Small ball, finger puppet, jigsaw, yo-yo, building blocks, small musical instrument, bangles, necklaces, sunglasses. For boys – trucks or cars. For girls – doll, clip-on earrings, make up or hair accessories.
Felt pens, pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser, copy book, chalk, colouring book, pencil case, stickers, notepad, picture / puzzle book.
Toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, comb, hair clips, wrapped soap, facecloth, shampoo, deodorant, sudocream, baby shampoo, baby powder.

Your shoebox will make a child feel special and valued. Choosing gifts, filling and wrapping a shoe box is fun and teaches us a lot about giving – especially when we know these gifts are going to be used and treasured for years to come.
