Following a Leitrim County Council board meeting on October 1, 2012, Part VIII Planning Permission has now been granted and ratified for the Drumshanbo Riverside Amenity Area.
The news comes after nearly two years of dedicated hard work by PID (Pride in Drumshanbo) and the newly formed company DTEL (Drumshanbo Town Enhancements Ltd).
PID & DTEL (Directors made up from representatives from the various community groups i.e. Joe Mooney Summer School, Drumshanbo Community Council etc) told the Leitrim Observer that they are excited that works to demolish the ‘eyesore’ of half finished apartments adjacent to main carpark and create our planned Riverside Amenity Area and Riverside Walk can now begin.
“As Chair I would like to congratulate those dedicated individuals from the group who have made this project happen! There has been huge voluntary effort to get this far.
“It’s very exciting for those who have been involved to date and more importantly fantastic and extremely exciting for Drumshanbo’s residents, business owners and the many who enjoy visiting our special town! “ added DTEL and PID chairperson, Steve Stead.
