Leitrim County Manager, Jackie Maguire, has said that the Council is committed to increasing the efficiency of collecting outstanding commercial and water rates as well as other outstanding payments such as rents, owed to the Local Authority.

Speaking at the recent Council meeting, Ms Maguire acknowledged that collection of such debts remained a “difficult area” for the Local Authority and she said that the rates of collection had continued to drop in 2012.

However, she stressed this was an important revenue stream for the Council and said they would have no option but to increase collection efficiency in 2013.
