The Minister for Education and Skills Ruairi Quinn TD has informed Fine Gael Deputy, Tony McLoughlin, that his department has approved funding the provision of an ASD Unit at Drumshanbo Vocational School.
The Sligo/North Leitrim TD was informed that a 1x362m2 ASD Unit has been approved for the school.
The funding will provide for construction and fit out costs and will provide a welcome resource for children with autism and of course is a welcome addition to the current school facilities.
“I want to compliment the acting principal Sean Wynne, the board of management at the Vocational School and the VEC Acting CEO Martin Fallon who have worked on this application and ensured it was successfully funded by the Department,” said Deputy McLoughlin.
Local FG Councillor, Enda McGloin, who is a member of the VEC and the Board of Management also welcomed this funding announcement.
