Paraic Noone, Keadue has been honoured with a nomination for a Save Our Planet Award in the Community Initiatives category.
The nomination submitted for Paraic reads: “Paraic Noone deserves to receive the “Save Our Planet North West” award because of his continuous devotion to the preservation and maintenance of the cultural and natural beauty of the Keadue area. Recently I had the pleasure of walking through the amazing natural beauty of Knockcranny Woods which is adjacent to Lough Meelagh. The numerous streams, the well-kept bridges across murmuring water, clean benches situated in view of the crannogs on the lake, make it an enchanting and refreshing space. These woods are cared for by the Tidy Town committee which is inspired by Paraic. Approaching the picturesque village from Sligo, visitors are welcomed by an inviting display of flowers and long stretches of well manicured open grassed spaces on the side of the road in the vicinity of the church indicates hours of weeding, planting sweeping with care.
“Houses on both sides of the street are presented extremely well the centre of the village boasts O’Carolan Park. This natural habitat features flowing water, eye-catching flowers and shrubs, fountains and walking trails. Litter, weeds, waste of any description is unseen in this most tidy town.” – Ann
