Patients who have appointments scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, October 8 at Sligo Regional Hospital are advised not to turn up as clinics will be postponed due to the strike by Non Consultant Hospital Doctors.

A number of appointments will go ahead and these patients will be notified by a phone call.

Grainne McCann, A/General Manager, Sligo Regional Hospital advises, “The simplest advice to patients of Sligo Regional Hospital is that all appointments are cancelled on Tuesday 08 October. We will call a number of patients whose appointments will go ahead tomorrow but in the main, all appointments will be postponed.”

“We are trying to minimise the disruption to our patients tomorrow but it is inevitable, given the important role that NCHDs play, that it will not be possible to run the hospital at full capacity during their strike. The Acute Assessment Unit will be closed which will result in additional activity in the Emergency Department which may experience some delays. Other critical services such as maternity, renal dialysis and oncology services will continue.

“All postponed appointments will be rescheduled as soon as possible.”
