Leitrim County Council has already prepared sandbags and staff have been monitoring water levels around the county following recent heavy rainfall.
Cllr Gerry Reynolds queried flood preparation plans at the recent Budget meeting on Monday noting that there were grave concerns amongst householders and business people in the area following severe storms.
Acting County Manager, Martin Dolan, told the meeting that staff were monitoring the situation while Director of Service, John McGuinness assured members that sandbags had been already filled and there was further provision for additional sandbags and other measures.
“We have a contingency plan in place in case of further flooding and we have measures to protect businesses and homes should the need arise,” stressed the County Manager.
