Leitrim County Council is looking at providing Tourism desks at a number of locations around the county in a bid to improve tourism promotion with the county.

Leitrim County Council is looking at providing Tourism desks at a number of locations around the county in a bid to improve tourism promotion with the county.

Cllr Caillian Ellis has highlighted the need for more tourism offices in he county and he speaking at the recent Ballinamore Municipal District Area meeting, he asked the Council to consider putting an office in pace in Ballinamore.

He was told that the Tourism office in Carrick-on-Shannon is funded and supported by Failte Ireland.

“In this regard Failte Ireland will not fund or support more than one such office within Co Leitrim,” noted the Senior Engineer for Roads, Shay O’Connor.

“However Leitrim County Council have considered the idea of providing a tourism desk at locations around the county and Ballinamore will be included as part of this initiative.

“This proposal will be progressed under the Gateway initiative and Leitrim County Council have commenced the recruitment process in this regards,” he said.
