According to the 2013 Courts Service Childcare Statistics two Supervision Orders, nine Full Care Orders, 129 Interim Care Orders and 9 Emergency Care Orders were sought through Carrick-on-Shannon’s District Court.
The figures were compiled under the Child Care Law Reporting Project and mark the third year that figures have been compiled for the County.
The figures show that all the Supervision Orders applied for were granted as were the Emergency Care Orders, however only 118 of the Interim Care Orders (including extensions) were granted by the court and just 7 of the 9 Full Care Orders sought were granted by the courts in 2013.
Nationally the total number of applications made in the courts in 2013 was down on figures for the previous year with 83% of all applications granted by the courts.
