This Sunday evening sees the final of The Voice of Ireland on RTÉ Television and although no Leitrim based contestant was lucky enough to make it to the last four, the county does have a link to the event.
Clare’s Sarah McTernan, who is a member of Rachel Stevens’ team is one of the last four contestants on the hugely popular talent show.
The 21-year-old Ennis songstress’s grandfather John McTernan is a native of Gortnacerkogue, Killargue, Dromahair.
John moved to Dublin several decades ago but his sister Mary-Alice Kelly still resides in the Dromahair area. Sarah also has relatives living in the wider north Leitrim area including McMorrows and Bohans. She is also related to Councillor Mary Bohan from Drumkeerin.
Mary’s daughter and grandaughter Áine and Amy travelled to The Helix on Sunday last to support Sarah.
The final of The Voice of Ireland takes place this Sunday evening on RTÉ One at 6.30pm.
