Cuts to Group Water Scheme subsidies
confirmed for 2015

Leitrim County Council has been issued with a circular confirming that subsidies supporting private Group Water Schemes, will be cut with immediate effect.

As a result, Subsidy A for the general operation and management costs of group schemes served from a public source has been cut from €70 to €40 while Subsidy A towards the general operational and management costs of group schemes served from a private source has been slashed from €140 to €95.

Subsidy B which helps with the operational and maintenance costs associated with ‘bona fide’ DBO contracts for schemes which have their own water treatment facilities, remains unchanged at €220.

The circular noted that the changes were coming into play following discussion between the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government and the National Federation of Group Water Schemes.
