Gardaí in the Leitrim/Cavan border area are asking farmers who live in the region to check fields and outhouses as the search for missing Donal Greene continues.
The appeal comes almost a week after the 22-year-old Galway man went missing on Saturday February 28 last. He was last seen in the Derrycassion area at approximately 5am that morning. He is described as approximately six-foot-three-inches in height and of slim build. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and black trousers.
It has been speculated on social media that Donal may have made his way towards the Leitrim border. All those living near the border are asked to be extremely vigilant and report anything suspicious to their local Garda station. Gardaí are now concentrating their search on lands between Derrycassion and Aughnasheelin where Donal’s car had been parked outside a relative’s house. This follows an extensive search in a forested area near Ballymacgovern and on towards Ballinamore.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballyconnell Garda Station on 049 952 61 02 or any local Garda station.
A special mass for Donal will take place in Aughnasheelin this evening at 8pm.
