Fianna Fáil Seanad Spokesperson on Public Expenditure, Marc MacSharry, has called on the Taoiseach to veto any deal which gives preferential treatment to Greece on a debt deal.
“Irish people have been treated as the whipping boys of Europe in terms of being forced to shoulder an unfair debt burden for unsecured bond holders, all in the interest of the bigger European players,” said MacSharry.
“It is time that the Irish people are paid back for effectively saving the euro. If Greece is afforded any special arrangements as part of the current negotiations process, then it is simply a matter of patriotism to veto the deal unless the people of Ireland are granted the same special treatment,” the Sligo based Senator told the Leitrim Observer this week.
