Ballinamore Municipal District Area councillors have voted to support a proposal which would see signage placed at historic locations such as the Selton Hill monument as part of an effort to create a new historic trail in the county..
Cllr Brendan Barry put forward the proposal noting this would be a relatively low cost tourism initiative.
In response a spokesperson for the Council noted that they had, in conjunction with other partners, previously provided looped walks and also two car touring routes in the county.
“The development of further trails or routes are very worthwhile but not within the current work programme,” he said.
“However, the matter will be considered for future work programmes and will also be relevant for consideration as part of the upcoming Local Development Strategy for the next Leader Programme,” noted the spokesperson in conclusion.
