Quinn Building Products Limited has pleaded guilty to two Health & Safety charges related to the death of former Fermanagh footballer Brian Óg Maguire in 2012.
Brian Óg Maguire, 24, from Lisnaskea died after being hit by a steel cable at the Quinn pre-stressed concrete factory in Ballyconnell on September 13, 2012.
Liam McCaffery, Director, admitted at Dungannon Crown Court on August 28 the company had failed to ensure the health and safety of an employe and to maintain work equipment.
Sentencing will be in October.
The company said the “tragic event” had occurred prior to the acquisition of the business by Quinn Industrial Holdings Limited. It accepted that there “were failings in its maintenance of appropriate Health and Safety regulations at the time of the accident”.
They have worked with Health & Safety to implement changes to “ensure that no such incident ever occurs again.”
