The Present Photography Exhibition was launched by Leitrim County Council Cathaoirleach Enda Stenson at The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon recently.
The exhibition provides recognition to local young people as fledgling photographers and is one element of the Twin Traditions Initiative (TTI), funded mainly by the International Fund for Ireland. The TTI requested participants to submit images which they felt reflected everyday life in Carrick and the surrounding areas with the Carrick Heritage Group receiving over a 140 images.
The Dock’s Stephen Rennick, Keith Nolan, local photographer and Sheila McArdle, TTI Co-ordinator had the difficult task of selecting two images from each participating school and the wider public as prize winners. The winners were; Gabriella Skripkauskaite and Lauren Taylor from the Marist, Sophie Young and Ewan Garland from Newtowngore, Jordan Chambers and Ryan Tully from St Mary’s, James Abbott and Donal Duignan from The Hunt, Mohill, Tracey Hennessey, Blue-Skye Spence from the Community College and Phyll Beirne, an adult participant.
The exhibition is facilitated by the Dock and comprises of prints and an audio/visual presentation and runs until Saturday, September 1st in The Jury Room.
