Thieves have made off with copper wire valued at over €10,000 following a break-in at the ESB Service Store on the Elphin Road, Carrick-on-Shannon.

Thieves have made off with copper wire valued at over €10,000 following a break-in at the ESB Service Store on the Elphin Road, Carrick-on-Shannon.

The raid occurred sometime on the evening of May 31/June 1 last.

The thieves broke down a fence at the rear of the property to gain access to the metal.

Local gardai are investigating the theft and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the ESB Service Store on the night in question to contact them on (071) 9620021.
