Today, Wednesday June 5 a few hundred Leitrim students will start their Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate exams.
This year a record number of students in both state exams will sit the higher level maths exam. The surge in uptake is a big boost for Ireland Inc and efforts by Government and employers to produce enough graduates with the skills necessary to build economic recovery.
Almost 117,000 candidates are entered for the 2013 exams, it is understood that exam security measures have been tightened this year to avoid a repeat of a packing error that forced exam chiefs to issue a replacement Leaving Cert Irish paper and CD in 2012. The Leaving Cert applied exams run until June 14th, the Junior Cert continues until June 20th and the Leaving until June 21st, according to the State Examinations Commission.
Best of luck to all students sitting exams in Leitrim.
