Independent Deputy Luke Ming Flangan will declare whether or not he plans to run for the European Parliament after St Patrick’s Day.

Independent Deputy Luke Ming Flangan will declare whether or not he plans to run for the European Parliament after St Patrick’s Day.

The TD for Roscommon-South Leitrim has been speculated about as a possible candidate and has said he is “definitely not ruling it out”.

It is understood he will be making an announcement in next week after St Patrick’s Day.

The Midlands North-West constituency for European elections covers 12 counties.

Four seats are available with sitting MEPs Jim Higgins FG, Mairead McGuinness FG, Marian Harkin Ind and Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher FF in the running.

Lorraine Higgins LAB, Matt Carthy SF, Mark Deary GREEN and Rónán Mullen IND have also declared they will contest the EU election on May 23.
