Drumshanbo is putting the final touches to its 2014 St Patrick’s Day Parade.
The event will start at 4pm on Monday, March 17, led by the man of the moment himself - St Patrick.
Those participating in the parade are asked to gather on the Carrick Road into the town at 3.30pm (Corryard Wood). All businesses, schools and community groups in the town and surrounding areas are asked to enter a float. There is no entry fee and you could win a prize for the best float.
The St Patrick’s Day festivities have proven a popular draw for crowds to Drumshanbo in recent years and this year’s parade promises to be better than ever with music, dancers and other entertainment planned. Further events will also be held on the stage which will be set up on Main Street for the occasion.
Local pubs will also be getting on board with the festivities over the St Patrick’s weekend so keep an eye out locally for what’s on and where.
Without the support of the community and business the parade would not be able to continue to be as successful so please show your support. Why not consider putting out flags if you live in and around the town or, if you are a local business, why not decorate your windows for the occasion?
There will also be a fabulous prize of a Lily O’Brien Easter Egg hamper in two businesses in town, tickets are just €2.
If you could help out on the day come along at 2pm or talk to any committee member.
Anyone interested in joining in the Drumshanbo St Patrick’s Day Parade should contact parade organiser, PJ on 086 6043902.
