Fine Gael councillor, Enda McGloin has sought clarity regarding the ‘Slí Liatroma’ walking route and, in particular, whether there is the appropriate insurance to enable maintenance work on the walk.
Raising the matter at the recent Council meeting, Cllr McGloin was told that, the walking route had been set up quite some time ago but over a number of years it has failed to meet the standards required for recognition as a national trail.
“The Council has recently commissioned an external review of the trail, including a feasibility element in relation to the renewal or redevelopment of the trail. It is expected that a report will be available in May,” said a Council spokesperson.
