Two Sinn Féin nominees are seeking selection at this Sunday’s party convention; sitting Leitrim County Councillor, Martin Kenny and senior Sinn Féin activist Chris MacManus, Sligo.
MacManus (41) is based in Sligo where he had been a councillor for 15 years and has held many senior positions within the party including membership of Sinn Féin’s National Executive. He is the youngest son of Sean MacManus, a former Mayor of Sligo who ran in several General and European elections. His mother, Helen (nee McGovern) is from Glenfarne.
Martin Kenny is a sitting Leitrim County Councillor and he has represented the party in two national elections. He is a long standing party activist and lives in Aughavas, Co Leitrim. The convention will take place on Sunday at 6.30pm and it is believed that only one candidate will be named.
