Deputy Tony McLoughlin TD was welcomed the latest figures showing the number of people signing on in the county has fallen by 7% on figures for 2012.
3,094 people are signing on compared with 3,315 at the same time last year. The numbers signing on in Carrick-on-Shannon have dropped by 10% to 2372 with Manorhamilton down 6% to 722.
“We still have a long way to go in relation to however there is significant progress and proof that the numerous measures being implemented in the Action Plan for Jobs, to support small businesses, attract foreign investment and boost indigenous investment, are working,” said Deputy McLoughlin.
