Deputy Frank Feighan, has welcomed a new €20m fund to help distressed local authority mortgage holders.

“Almost 30% of Council mortgage holders are in arrears for 90 days or more Under this fund, mortgage holders will become tenants of the Council. They will stay in their family home and rather than paying a mortgage they will pay a smaller monthly rent. While giving up ownership of a home is never an easy decision, this will give families certainty and security,” he said.
