The chilly weather conditions are set to continue well into next week with overnight temperatures remaining below freezing until Monday, February 9.
According to long range weather forecasts from accuweather.com, today (Wednesday, February 4) will be chilly with highest temperatures of just 4C. Overnight temperatures will drop to -2C and icy conditions are expected so motorists are asked to drive with care.
On Thursday day-time temperatures will rise to around 6C but there is a chance of some light snow or sleet showers, especially on higher ground. Overnight temperatures will fall to -1C with some patches of ice expected, especially on untreated secondary roads.
By Friday, February 6 snow will clear to leave sunny but cold condtiions through the weekend with highs of around 5C or 6C across Saturday and Sunday, although night-time temerpatures will again drop to -2C.
The good news is that warmer conidtions are expected for much of next week with daytime temperatures rising to 12C on Tuesday, February 10 and temperatures not expected to fall below 4C overnight for much of next week.
