Cavan County Council is expected to start work on refurbishing Dowra Courthouse this year, if the plans are approved.
The council have given notice that they propose to carry out the development to generate workspace for creative and leisure industries at the old courthouse. The council will install a lift, create an access walkway to the rear, develop upstairs and provide general building alterations as part of the refurbishment works.
Plans and Particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection or purchase at the Planning Office, Cavan town and in the Council Office in Ballyconnell until August 23. Submissions or observations on the development may be made to Paddy Connaughton, Head of Community and Enterprise, Cavan County Council, no later than September 6.
€488,211 funding for renovation of Dowra Courthouse was announced last year under the Harnessing Natural Resources Project from INTEREG 4A. The former Courthouse and Garda Station, the property of Cavan County Council will, under the management of Cavan County Enterprise Fund be transformed into a work space for the arts and a tourist information point
