Change of speed limit sought for Kilclare

At the March meeting of Ballinamore Municipal District Cllr Gerry Dolan asked for the possibility of changing the speed limit at Kilclare to be considered.

At the March meeting of Ballinamore Municipal District Cllr Gerry Dolan asked for the possibility of changing the speed limit at Kilclare to be considered.

Cllr Dolan said, “I ask Leitrim County Council to extend the speed limit at Kilclare to the Canal bridge, past the Carrick on Shannon side of the Post Office.”

The Senior Roads Engineer replied, “The extension of the speed limit requested can be considered when the next county­wide Review of speed limits is undertaken. We are presently awaiting publication of Department guidelines on the review of Speed limits.”

Cllr Caillian Elllis raised the issue of public lighting saying, “I propose that Leitrim County Council extend the public lighting from Ardrum to Edentenny to light up the footpath which is already in place.”

In reply the senior roads engineer said, “The cost of the works requested will be estimated and any works will be dependant on the availability of funds.”

Cllr Paddy O’Rourke called for barriers to erect a barrier along the R202 at Cleendargan, Ballinamore.

In reply the senior roads engineer said, “The barriers requested can be considered under a Low Cost Safety Grant scheme.

“Road edge Delineators will be renewed as an interim measure.”
