TY Make-Up Workshop
Last week our TY’s took part in a special effects and skincare course run by Alison Leek. We learned about the importance of skincare for boys and girls with demonstrations of how to make face masks and what products are best for your skin. In special effects we learned how to make bruises, cuts and glass wounds.
It was a really enjoyable day for everyone and well worthwhile doing.

Transition Year Trip to Pallas Driving School
On Thursday the 9th of November our Transition Year students visited Pallas Driving School in County Galway. Accompanied by Ms. Guckian and Ms. Keegan, our students learned plenty about what their driving test will consist of, what their theory test will consist of and much more. Upon arrival at the school, our students were greeted by their driving instructors for the day and were given a quick rundown of what their day would consist of.
They started off by watching videos from the Road Safety Authority showing them many vital things they would need to know about doing their theory test and driving safely on the road. They then took a mock theory test and had their scores evaluated and were shown common mistakes made in the theory test and how to avoid them.
Our students then got to use the schools “drunk goggles” simulating what it would be like to drive while under the influence of extreme levels of alcohol. They were given a series of tasks to complete while wearing these goggles and they all saw how unsafe it really is to drive under the influence of alcohol. After a quick lunch break, our students then got some hands-on experience of what it’s really like to drive a car, as they all had the chance to drive on Pallas Driving School’s 1500m track. They were given many useful tips on how to be better and safer drivers, and how to pass their driving tests with flying colours. The trip was a brilliant opportunity for our TY’s to learn lots about driving in a controlled and safe environment before they get behind the wheel of their own cars someday, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Díospóireacht
Ar an ochtú lá de mhí na Samhain chuaigh ár bhfoirne díospóireachta chuig Contae Mhuineacháin chun páirt a ghlacadh i gcomórtas.
Chuaigh ár bhfoireann shóisearach ar dtús. Bhí siad ag argóint ar son an rún gur “seafóid atá sa teilifís réaltachta.” Ar ár bhfoireann sóisear tá Lauren Ó Dúláin , Aisling Nic Pháidín agus Maedbh Creighton. Chuaigh siad i gcoinne Coláiste Chú Chulainn,Coláiste De La Salle, agus Meánscoil Loreto. Bhí siad ar fheabhas agus chuaigh siad tríd go dtí an chéad bhabhta eile.
Ansin chuaigh an fhoireann shinsearach agus bhí siad ar argóint i gcoinne an rún “ba cheart smacht iomlán a bheith ag tuismitheoirí ar Mheáin shóisialta a bpáistí atá faoi ocht mbliana déag d’aois”. Ar ár bhfhoireann shinsearach tá Hanora Ó Brádaigh , Laura Mac Fhachtna agus Elodie Maye Gazonnet. Chuaigh siad i gcoinne Meánscoil Loreto agus Coláiste De La Salle.Ar an drochuair ní bhfuair siad tríd.
Bhí chaighdeán an-ard ag an chomórtas seo . Tá súil againn go dtiocfaidh an fhoireann shinsearach ar ais arís an bhliain seo chugainn. Comhghairdeas mór lenár bhfoireann sóisear agus ádh mór ag an gcéad chomórtas.

Sport Report
Basketball: Senior and cadet boys both won their north west semi finals in two very exciting battles. The seniors won 58-57 against Summerhill College when Brian Keaney scored a brilliant 3 pointer as the buzzer sounded. They played out of their skin and they came out on the right side of the battle.

The cadets also had a great game and showed great skill, teamwork and fight in the last quarter to take the lead and hold on to the win against Sligo Grammar. Wishing Scott a speedy recovery.
Football: Our Junior girls team played a great game in the Connacht Semi Final this week but unfortunately it was not their day. We would like to wish Presentation School, Headford the very best of luck in their final.
Rugby: Our rugby girls and boys donned the black and gold this week in two noble battles. The girls were unfortunately not as successful as the lads on this occasion but did us all proud. Well done to both teams and the coaches.
