Cleaning of the Lough Rinn tributary which goes through the town of Mohill will be undertaken, meeting told
Cllr Thomas Mulligan asked when it is intended to carry out dredging or cleaning works on the river within Mohill town as provided for in the annual Budget. He was speaking at the latest Carrick-on-Shannon municipal district meeting.A report by the Economic Development section said that an increase in the overall drainage budget was approved by the elected members last November to allow for cleaning of the river in Mohill and it is envisaged, that once the urban renewal works are complete, cleaning of the Lough Rinn tributary which goes through the town of Mohill will be undertaken. Leitrim County Council does not undertake dredging of the water courses, the response concluded.Cllr Mulligan asked if the works could be done early in the year, "because it has been unsightly there all of last year and hasn't improved all winter."Chairperson, Cllr Enda Stenson supported the motion saying "it should be done now and I'm sure everyone here will support that."Cllr Sean McGowan also supported the motion.
