The subsidence at the bridge will require a Specific Improvement Grant to carry out a proper design and construction of approaches to the canal bridge.
Cllr Enda McGloin asked the council to examine possible road subsidence at the bridge along the R209 at Drumaleague, Kilcare and asked if works could be carried out to ensure the road does deteriorate further.
He was advised that an allocation for subsidence works on the R209 has been received as part of the Climate Change Adaptations and Resilience Works grant from the Department of Transport and works will be carried out in the current year.
The District Office have met with the landowner and funding will provide for rebuilding the bank on both sides of R209 at that location.
