Community support hubs open in Leitrim following Storm Éowyn

Storm Éowyn tore through the north west on Friday, leaving widespread destruction in its wake.

Hundreds of homes in Leitrim are still without power as ESB crews continue working to restore electricity supply.

Many homes are also facing water outages.

Some areas in Leitrim may not have the power fully restored until later this week. In light of these challenging circumstances, Leitrim County Council have compiled a list of community support hubs where Leitrim residents can access power and water.

Places in Leitrim offering hot drinks and phone charging services are Drumkeeran Community Centre (6pm to 8pm); Tullaghan Community Centre (11am to 1pm); Manorhamilton Library (9:30am to 7pm); Dromahair Library (9:30am to 7pm); Carrick-on-Shannon Library (9:30am to 7pm); Mohill Library (9:30am to 7pm); Drumshanbo Library (9:30am to 7pm) and Mohill FRC Canon Donohoe Hall (9am to 5pm).

The Shed Distillery (10am to 6pm) and Glenfarne Rainbow Ballroom (10am to 4pm) are offering phone charging.

Carrigallen GAA (10am to 5pm), the Bee Park (8am to 6pm) and the Ballagh Centre (10am to 4pm) will all be open for power but do not have water.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Leitrim County Council have also launched a community support helpline for those needing assistance as a result of Storm Éowyn.

The support line is available from 9am to 5pm, and can be reached on 071 965 0471.

The public can also reach out for support by emailing storm@leitrimcoco.ie, and are reminded to contact 999 or 112 in cases of emergency.
