Over €2,000 has been allocated to Leitrim Cycling Festival and Leitrim Local Environmental Network.
€2,500 has been awarded to two environmental projects in Leitrim as part of a €500,000 funding announcement under the Climate Actions Work Engagement Fund.
The grants, revealed on March 24 by Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Darragh O’Brien, and Minister for Circular Economy Alan Dillon,
Will support 96 community groups and organisations across 23 counties, with individual grants ranging from €2,500 to €10,000.
Leitrim Cycling Festival will receive €2,500 to assist the project to improve the communication, publicity and climate impact for the festival.
Leitrim Local Environmental Network has also been granted €2,500 to develop an information hub and reach new audiences in order to promote climate action and biodiversity activities in the county.
The fund is administered by Community Foundation Ireland, which as part of its mission of Equality for All in Thriving Communities, has been empowering local groups, researchers, and advocates to act on climate and nature since 2000.
Focused on climate engagement, awareness, and communications, the funding aims to help community groups reach new audiences in their locality.
It will also provide opportunities for community groups to promote their work and spread the message of community-led climate action.
