A total of 148 projects across Leitrim will receive small grants of up to €5,000 under the Local Enhancement Programme, part of a €7 million national package supporting over 5,400 projects around the country.
More than 300 community projects across Sligo, Leitrim, and South Donegal are set to benefit from over €260,000 in funding as part of the scheme, according to Deputy Marian Harkin.
Locally, €114,783 has been allocated to 148 projects across Leitrim, while 162 projects in Sligo will receive €144,393 in funding.

The Local Enhancement Programme offers small capital grants of up to €5,000 to support repairs, improvements, and equipment purchases. Current funding of up to €750 is also available to help cover day-to-day running costs like utility bills, rent, and insurance.
Speaking after the announcement, Minister Harkin described the funding as a welcome boost for local organisations working at the heart of their communities.
“This investment, made up of small grants, will help community groups pay bills or carry out small works that can put pressure on their resources,” she said. “It enables them to enhance their facilities, cover running costs, and continue their invaluable work in building community spirit.”

The programme is run by Local Community Development Committees (LCDCs), with the support of local councils in Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal.
Minister Harkin also encouraged groups interested in future funding opportunities to contact their local LCDC.
“These grants help keep the doors open in our community halls and centres, support voluntary groups, and keep local activities going. The dedication of these groups is the backbone of community life,” she added.
