Months-long closure announced for Leitrim road to facilitate water works

Motorists in Leitrim are being advised of a road closure in North Leitrim lasting over two months to facilitate improvements to the water supply.

Leitrim County Council has announced a temporary road closure in Newtownmanor, effective from next month.

Water mains replacement works will take place in the area as part of the Newtownmanor Extension Scheme, resulting in the closure.

From Monday, July 7 to Friday, September 26, the L4153-1 road at Moneyduff will be closed from the junction with the main R286 road at Sriff/Moneyduff to the junction at Lugalustran/Cornalaghta, near Newtownmanor Community Hall.

The closures will be in effect daily from 7am to 7pm.

The Council has stated that access for local residents and businesses will be maintained, though it may be limited to agreed times. Access for local and emergency services will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.

All traffic management will be removed and roads reopened for the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Local diversions will be in place via L8154-0, R286-3 and R286-4.
