A national conference addressing the challenges facing entrepreneurs establishing and building creative businesses will take place this Friday (September 27) in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Chaired by TV3’s Collette Fitzpatrick, the conference will hear from Irish entrepreneurs who have harnessed their creative talents to build successful companies at home and abroad.
The conference is part of a week-long series of events being hosted by the Harnessing Creativity’s “Expanded Territories” Exhibition and Showcase which is taking place from September 20-27 in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Harnessing Creativity is a Cross-Border Project which has received €799,880 through the European Union’s INTERREG IVA programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). This project is being delivered by Leitrim County Enterprise Board in partnership with the Irish Central Border Area Network (ICBAN), Leitrim County Council, Fermanagh District Council, Omagh Enterprise Company, Tyrone Donegal Partnership and the Leitrim Design House.
The week is a mix of exhibition, masterclasses, talks and it culminates in this full-day conference showcasing the diversity of Irish creative practices.
Project Manager, Anna Marie O’Rourke says, “This week we expect to meet and host 800 people from across Ireland who are interested in setting up or developing their creative business.
“Harnessing Creativity’s “Expanded Territories” is an experimental combination of exhibition, demonstrations, masterclasses, talks and screenings but will most importantly be a celebration of all things creative.
“The region surrounding Leitrim, Fermanagh and Tyrone has long been heralded as a national leader in the creative industries with talents ranging from architecture to film, design to photography, music to creative applications of technology.”
A number of case studies that demonstrate excellence in the field of the creative industries from product designers to event organisers, will speak about their experiences of taking ideas from conception to fruition.
The conference is free and is is open to all creative practitioners or business.
