Leitrim County Council are to contact the ESB to find out if measures have been taken by them to create a safe and clear corridor through forestry in Leitrim.
At November’s meeting of Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District, Cllr Sean McGowan asked that this happen in the woodlands so as to ensure that they will be able to identify and repair faults on their power lines as quickly as possible, as we head into the winter months and the almost inevitable storm season that comes at this time of year.
“Storms are going to be the norm unfortunately and we need a good working corridor,” Cllr McGowan said.

He added that if a clear corridor is made, “at least if a cable is brought down, they would be able to go in and repair it as soon as possible.”
All members of Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District supported the motion.
It was confirmed that correspondence will be issued to the ESB so they can confirm whether progress has been made.
