Local Fine Gael TD, Frank Feighan, has welcomed the first formal meeting of the Design Team, tasked with the planning and design work for the €3m Endoscopy Suite to be built at Roscommon Hospital.
A tender process to identify a suitable contractor to build the Endoscopy building is expected to be undertaken next year and once the suite is fully operational the number of daily procedures will increase to 30. Deputy Feighan said that making Roscommon a key diagnostic centre for the West was clear evidence that the long-term future of the County Hospital was secure.
“I am delighted at the great reaction by ordinary staff at the hospital to this investment: the over-riding objective has always been to safeguard the hospital and all the jobs there,” concluded Deputy Feighan.
