A bus service from Carrigallen to Longford has been replaced by a smaller bus service, it was revealed at a meeting in Ballinamore, Leitrim

The NTA Bus route 463, previously operated by Bus Éireann, which connected Carrigallen and Mohill to Longford, has been replaced with a smaller bus service, a Local Link service, Cllr Roisin Kenny stated.

She said: "It says in a response from Bus Éireann to a motion I put forward, that passengers who still want to avail of the service should call and make a booking. I phoned around my own local area and several of the people using it on a weekly basis said there has been no change and they are delighted with the service. I just wanted to note that it is working well; the new service."

She continued: "The NTA have a survey out currently for people to make submissions. They are talking about running a bus from Cavan to Longford going through Killeshandra, Carrigallen Aughavass and Cloone. I'm delighted to see that the service would be going three times per day, seven days a week. Submissions on the NTA's website. The closing date is 7 December. I would urge people to make a submission; if they want to put a stop here or a stop there."

Cllr Ita Reynolds-Flynn supported the comments made by Cllr Kenny stating that the service "was full yesterday and more people are talking on that bus than they are on the bigger bus."
