A red carpet reception is planned for the Roses when they arrive in Lovely Leitrim for the first time ever en route to the Rose of Tralee International Festival.
Stunning Lough Rynn Castle Estate and Gardens will be the Roses’ home when they arrive in Mohill on Tuesday 12th August for two nights.
The Rose of Tralee Commercial Manager, Steve Cronly, said: “Lough Rynn Castle and Leitrim Tourism have pulled out all the stops to ensure that the Roses’ visit to the county is one of their most memorable stages along this year’s Rose Tour.
“Our hosts, Ciaran Reidy General Manager, and the Team at Lough Rynn Castle are looking forward to giving the Roses a five-star welcome, for which we are most grateful.”
There is so much to see and do in County Leitrim that the Roses will enjoy a cram-packed Wednesday when they will be treated like royalty at some of the county’s top tourist attractions.
The day will commence with a press conference followed by a tour of the Lough Rynn Castle grounds and walled gardens to which members of the locality are welcome to come along to join in the experience.
Midway through Wednesday morning the Roses will board “Moonriver” for a cruise along the Shannon to Carrick-on-Shannon for an official welcome to the town and to County Leitrim.
Later in the day, the Roses will be treated to a visit of St George’s Heritage Centre, Costello Chapel and Market Yard and Craft Market Display in Carrick-on-Shannon and then it will be on to the Arigna Mining Experience.
Last, but not least, on the fun-packed schedule, will be a banquet dinner and entertainment in the spectacular Grand Ballroom at Lough Ryne Castle on Wednesday night.
General Manager, Ciaran Reidy said, “We started working on the tour visit, prior to the regional selections, which took place in Portlaoise back in May where Leitrim’s Rose, Zara Healy, was selected to go through to the Live Finals in Tralee on August 18th and 19th. This has made the International Rose Visit to Leitrim more special as Zara will be welcoming all the Roses to her home county and town.
“I am delighted to be working with Sinead McDermott of Leitrim Tourism in organising the welcome of the Roses to Carrick-on-Shannon and Leitrim Lions Club who are co-sponsoring the Gala Dinner at Lough Rynn Castle on Wednesday evening.”
Zara Healy was at Lough Rynn Castle to launch the announcement of the Rose Tour visiting Leitrim, this year’s current International Rose of Tralee, Haley O’Sullivan also recently visited Lough Rynn Castle and gave her seal of approval of the itinerary,
On her visit and after viewing Lough Rynn Castle on one of this year’s most beautiful days, Haley stated she wished she was in this year’s International Rose Selection, “Wow, Simply Wow”
Zara was thrilled to learn the news that the Rose Tour would be visiting Leitrim and even better that they would have the opportunity to stay 2 nights in the county.
“I am so proud that I can bring the roses to my home town of Carrick-on-Shannon and that they and the world can see what a fantastic little county we have here. It is such an honour and I hope everyone will get behind the visit and welcome the girls and the tour in true Leitrim spirit.”
